Job Description Qualifications:

Seeking a self-motivated leader to join the Production Engineering team for the Mid Body in North Charleston, SC. The primary function of this team is to support the build plan with Planning, LCPT support, and cross functional support for the Mid Body Assembly team.

The successful candidate will have a deep internal desire to lead production system improvements to meet the projected rate increases on the 787 Program. We are looking for a leader who brings a diverse perspective, curiosity and creativity when approaching challenges, and courage to pursue step-function improvements.

Technical leadership and aptitude, as well as people leadership skills are essential to develop and inspire a diverse team to reach a shared goal and vision. Strong candidates will have demonstrated success in developing and maintaining relationships, in addition to problem solving skills, willingness to take initiative, and the ability to lead and work across multiple functions. Build plan ownership and leading through the production system using lean tools and the ability to work across multiple functions to lead the development and implementation of production system solutions

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead a multi-skilled engineering team to meet organization targets in the areas of productivity, safety, quality, and cost Elements include but are not limited to: process engineering, manufacturing support, build plan development, technical consult for partners and suppliers, and introducing new technology.
  • Lead special projects supporting key company priorities. Projects may include but are not limited to stabilize and improve efficiency of the production system, enable rate increases on our production lines, manage incorporation of product and process changes into the production system, and develop production system architecture for new airplane models
  • Oversee technical management of suppliers in the design, sourcing, and implementation of new technology into the production system.
  • Partner with Operations, Industrial Engineering, Design Engineering, and other key stakeholders to drive build plan improvements in all areas
  • Take ownership of improvements that are both directly aligned to the engineering skill as well as efforts that require cross-functional partnering
  • Partner with Finance and Business Operations to manage risks, tooling cost forecasts/expenditures, and quarterly budgets
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, business partners and direct reports. Leverage network to seek broad input on key projects and initiatives.
  • Manage, develop and motivate employees to achieve their best as individuals and as a team
  • Possess strong communication and project management skills
  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite, and the selected candidate will be required to work onsite.


The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. ยง 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from accredited course of study in engineering, , computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in Production Engineering


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Be able to interact positively with people throughout Boeing & the partner/customer base
  • Experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives
  • 1+ year of experience in engineering management or technical management

Summary pay range: 107,000 - 190,000
