Job Summary

This position will report directly to the VP of Sustainment. Responsible for directing the planning and administration of both Program Management (SGSS) and Inventory Control Point and Retail Warehouse strategies and processes. Ensures that customer support requirements and objectives are achieved within budgets and schedules to meet marketing and financial objectives. Ensures superior execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics processes. Builds relationships with strategic customers through logistic initiatives. Integrates learning from customers, competitors, other industries, industry groups, and professional training to continuously improve competitive position.

Oversees all phases of program(s) from initiation through delivery. Directs programs and program activities which represent significant future growth in several distinct developing products or components. Applies new technologies or methods to coordinate applications across program requirements. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate managers. Responsible for program(s) likely to be a factor in the company's strategic business objectives. May be responsible for decisions where erroneous decisions could cause substantial expenditure of time and resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct all phases of the program(s) from conceptualization through completion, including acquisition, planning, and managing technical performance to ensure quality, business, and financial objectives are attained.
  • Develop and coordinate new program plans or delivery methods with little precedence for coordination across distinctive products while serving multiple customers.
  • Consult with executive management to develop and implement current, annual, and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business, and financial objectives for the program(s) and contribute to the development of Group/Company objectives which have a long-range forecast projected to continue for multiple years.
  • Direct, influence, and coordinate the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract(s). Influence contract acquisitions, negotiations, and modifications.
  • Identify program issues and provide leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying contract specification.
  • Lead the development of new business opportunities and expansion of existing business opportunities. Participate with Group management in pursuing business partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that enhance the capabilities of the Group/Company and may result in new products, programs, and business opportunities.
  • Direct the development of and ensure the security of proprietary technology and maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Plans logistics strategies and establish standard logistics processes and tools.
  • Direct all contract logistics activities for compliance with standard processes.
  • Direct the coordination of logistics activities for selected projects, including logistics planning, training, supply chain activities from point of manufacturing through support, deployment, freight, warehousing, customer freight, order management, customer warehousing, customer store shipment, and customer placement.
  • Identify logistics issues and provide leadership in developing solutions.
  • Act as the primary contact for logistics activities and lead progress planning and review sessions to discuss costs, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Direct the development and implementation of annual and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business, and financial objectives for logistic activities and participate in the development of overall unit/Division/Group annual and long-term objectives.
  • Consult on contract negotiations and contract modifications.
  • Consult on the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract(s).
  • Direct the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of management, professional, and technical talent.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline and fifteen or more years of progressively complex logistics experience in a manufacturing environment with at least nine of those years managing logistics processes. Additional equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must have a detailed and thorough understanding of the principles, concepts, and practices of logistics management and experience demonstrating a broad application of those practices and standards.
  • Must have comprehensive project management and leadership skills, including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Must possess the ability to resolve unusually complex management and technical problems and serve as spokesperson on logistic issues.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
